ALBANY, NY (January 13, 2016) — The Invest in Education Coalition today issued the following statement regarding Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Executive Budget proposal:
“Governor Cuomo shows a progressive agenda must give poor and working families the same school choice as people of means. The Invest in Ed Coalition thanks the Governor for advancing the scholarship tax credit and the benefit for teachers who spend personal funds on classroom supplies in his budget. With the Senate’s passage of a scholarship tax credit this week, the Coalition looks forward to working with Assembly members and all lawmakers in Albany to see this good idea become law.”
The scholarship program is supported by a diverse coalition of educators, education support organizations, community groups, immigration rights advocates, faith leaders, non-profits and labor unions.
